Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Criollos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Criollos defeated 4th placed Cangrejeros in Caguas 87-83. Caguas made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Santurce outrebounded Caguas 46-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 8 rebounds and 14 assists. Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Guaynabo. Santurce at the other side keeps the fourth place with nine games lost. Santurce will play next round against Carolina trying to get back on the winning streak. Caguas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Indios (12-10) against fourth ranked Atleticos (10-14) on Sunday night. Visiting Indios were defeated by Atleticos in San German 83-72. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for Alize Johnson (206-1996, college: Missouri St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds. Nate Mason contributed with 23 points and 6 assists for the winners. Milton Doyle (193-1993, college: Loyola, IL) answered with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Mayaguez. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Atleticos have a solid series of three victories in a row. San German maintains fourth place with 10-14 record. Mayaguez lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with ten games lost. San German will play against Ponce (#6) in Juana Diaz in the next round. Mayaguez will have a break next round.

It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Piratas. Jezreel De Jesus stepped up and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The best for the losing side was Emmanuel Mudiay with 19 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Ponce maintains sixth place with 8-11 record. Loser Piratas keep the third position with 12 games lost. Ponce will meet higher ranked San German (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Quebradillas will play against Manati and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 21 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Ponce was defeated by Bayamon in a road game 75-63. Manati beat Aguada at home 88-78. Carolina lost to Santurce on the opponent's court 80-85.
The best stats of 21th round was 14 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks by Jared Sullinger of Santurce.




Bayamon - Ponce 75-63

There was a minor upset in Bayamon where their close opponent Leones (8-11) were defeated by sixth ranked Vaqueros (9-14) 75-63 on Sunday. Bayamon outrebounded Ponce 46-33 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bayamon made 7 blocks. American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and South Sudanese center Wenyen Gabriel (208-1997, college: Kentucky) chipped in 17 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was international forward Aleem Ford (203-1996, college: Wisconsin) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) scored 6 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Leones' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bayamon maintains sixth place with 9-14 record which they share with defeated Ponce. Loser Leones keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Bayamon will meet league's second-placed Guaynabo on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ponce will play against San German (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Naturalized Panamanian point guard Jhivvan Jackson (182-1998, college: UTSA) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and the former international Chris Ortiz (203-1993, college: Kent St.) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Osos' coach Ivan Rios used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa (185-1997, college: UNF, agency: Octagon Europe) with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Nigerian-American center Chinanu Onuaku (207-1996, college: Louisville) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Manati maintains third place with 11-11 record having five points less than leader Caguas. Loser Aguada keeps the fifth position with 16 games lost. Manati will meet Quebradillas (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aguada will play against the league's leader Arecibo and hope to secure a win.
